How to pay Vultr with crypto
Open the Vultr services or billing flow you need
Choose the Vultr resources you want to run, such as Cloud Compute, Bare Metal, Cloud GPU, Kubernetes, Managed Databases, or storage products, then go to the Customer Portal when it is time to fund the account that covers them.
Pick SolCard or Vultr's native crypto option
Inside Make a Payment, Vultr lets you enter a custom USD amount and pay by card or crypto. Use SolCard if you want to stay on the card rail, or choose Vultr's BitPay option if you prefer paying the company directly with supported coins.
Keep enough balance for hourly and monthly charges
Once the payment lands, Vultr applies it to the account that covers server hours, backup fees, bandwidth overages, and other billable resources before invoices are generated on the 1st of the month.
Why Vultr billing needs a more specific payment plan
Vultr is not just a single VPS purchase. The same billing account can cover Cloud Compute, Optimized Cloud Compute, Cloud GPU, Bare Metal, Managed Databases, Kubernetes, Object Storage, Block Storage, CDN, Container Registry, and Load Balancers.
Vultr bills servers by the hour, starts charging as soon as a server is deployed, and generates invoices on the 1st of each month. That is a different payment rhythm from a fixed SaaS subscription and matters when your usage changes during the month.
Vultr's GPU products use a 730-hour monthly calculation, while Cloud Compute, Optimized Cloud Compute, and Bare Metal bill up to 672 hours. If you mix GPU workloads with standard instances, the bill can move differently than a typical hosting plan.
Vultr documents that stopped instances still incur charges because CPU, RAM, SSD storage, and IP allocations remain reserved. The only way to stop billing is to destroy the resource, which is a real cost distinction for temporary environments.
Vultr accepts direct crypto through BitPay, but it also supports saved payment methods in the Customer Portal with default and backup designations. SolCard fits the card path if you want your crypto budget tied to the same billing setup Vultr uses for routine account funding.
Vultr's docs call out add-on and usage charges that can change the invoice after deployment, including bandwidth overages at $0.01 per GB, Object Storage tiers with extra storage and transfer charges, and Automatic Backups, which add 20% of an eligible instance's base hourly or monthly price.

About Vultr
Vultr sells cloud infrastructure through its website and Customer Portal, including Cloud Compute, Optimized Cloud Compute, Cloud GPU, Bare Metal, Managed Databases, Kubernetes, Object Storage, Block Storage, CDN, and Load Balancers. Customers typically add funds in the billing area to keep services active, then accrue hourly and usage-based charges that roll into monthly invoices. Vultr already supports direct crypto payments through BitPay, but SolCard is still useful if you want to cover Vultr's saved-card billing flow with crypto while paying for servers, GPUs, storage, and related platform charges.
Vultr billing and payment FAQ
Yes. Vultr's payment-method documentation lists digital currencies through BitPay, and the Customer Portal's Make a Payment flow includes a crypto option. SolCard is still relevant if you would rather keep Vultr on a saved card method instead of using the native BitPay route.
